Huawei Ascend II Now Available For Free From US Cellular

Last week it was announced that US Cellular would begin the sale of the Huawei Ascend II during the final parts of December, and it has finally arrived. Not only is it available for purchase, it’s available for free (sort of).

If you’re a new customer to US Cellular or are a current customer eligible to upgrade to a new device, you can get your hands on the Huawei Ascend II for free after a slight catch—you must purchase the phone for $100, but you will receive a $100 mail-in rebate which eventually means the phone costs you nothing.

The $100 mail-in rebate special is a limited time offer and is only available for a few more days, ending after January 2, 2012. So if you’re wanting to get the Ascend II and think it’s the right phone for you, then getting it for free would definitely be the right price to purchase it at.

The Huawei Ascend II is a smartphone running Android 2.3  Gingerbread on a decent 600 MHz processor. It features a 3.5 inch touchscreen with 320×480 resolution and has a 5 MP rear-facing camera. The internal storage is done via microSD card and it comes preinstalled with a 2 GB card. The phone can use WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, 3G technology, and has a 1400 mAh battery. While it is not the fastest or largest phone on the market, it is a decent phone and definitely affordable if you get it for free.

If you wish to order the phone from the US Cellular site, you can do so here.
