LG Optimus Series Android 2.3 Gingerbread Updates Beginning In Europe, Met With Problems

The Android 2.3 Gingerbread update is on its way to Europe now for LG Optimus smartphones. Because of the large amount of models in the Optimus series, they will be getting the update in a staggered launch system. The LG Facebook page currently says that the updates will begin with the LG Optimus 2X before being released to the other systems.  On Facebook page LG said :

LG would like to express its sincere thanks to all of the Optimus Series owners who have been waiting patiently for the Android 2.3 Gingerbread upgrade.

While it is announced that the Optimus 2X is supposed to start getting the update on November 1 there have been many complaints on the LG Facebook page saying that the update is not available via the Market updater or OTA right now.

Once the Optimus 2X update issues have been resolved and the upgrade has officially been released for users to download, the LG Optimus 3D will get its update nearly three weeks later on November 21. After the Optimus 3D, the LG Optimus black will receive its update a week later starting on November 28.

According to LG, after the staggered European updates are made, Android 2.3 Gingerbread will be coming to the devices globally. However, a bit of uncertainty was left in the air as they said that the exact timing of the global launch will vary depending on the market.

Due to the slow release time for Gingerbread on the European market, it has been met with negative responses when LG recently announced that the 2X will no longer be getting the Android 4.0 upgrade. Assuming that 2X users will eventually have Gingerbread available to download, it may be the last update that some European LG owners ever receive.
