Many users are excited about the new LTE Motorola Droid 4. Pictures have been floating around online for the last few weeks every time including a leak but the device still hasn’t shown up in stores yet. What has shown up in stores, though, is cases and other accessories for the Motorola DROID 4—but where’s the phone?
The latest leak of information had the device gearing up for a December release which obviously hasn’t happened. This isn’t the first time a hyped phone has been given multiple speculated release dates that haven’t been followed through. Case in point: the Galaxy Nexus. Many ‘official’ leaks from all over had said when the Galaxy Nexus was going to be released with each time receiving a push back.
It could be possible that Verizon is working through all bugs and wanting to make sure that the device ships without any more issues—as with the Nexus, many users were upset that they received a new phone and it was full of issues, errors, and bugs.
It may be something entirely different (and less likely) like Verizon has decided to upgrade the Motorola DROID 4 to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich before its release. While that seems like a great thought, it most likely won’t happen.
The most likely case for a release date, in my opinion, is sometime in early February. There will be plenty of updates and discussions of the new DROID 4 in just a few days at CES 2012 and I expect we will get an official release date at that time. When the announcement is finally made and they release the phone to match all of the accessories that are piling up in Verizon stores be sure to check back here to get any details.
