There are some rumors about Samsung releasing an 11.6 inch tablet with a 2560 by 1600 pixel resolution in the works. Another tablet model is speculated to be 10.1 inches and having a 1020 by 600 to 1920 by 1200 pixel resolution. There is no solid information backing the existence of a tablet such as this from being released, but there are some tidbits of fact available in the form of WiFi certification information.
The connection has been made with previous WiFi certification documentation for other Samsung tablet products. The Galaxy Tab had a code name of GT-P6200 where the GT are the Tab’s initials and P is the category for tablets. Other code names for the Tab have been linked to GT-P7510 (10 inch) and GT-P1010 (7 inch) which make speculation of the new code name model numbers anything from brand new devices to revamped Galaxy Tabs.
They are the GT-P3100 and the GT-P5100 products which have passed the WiFi certified interoperability testing. Both are to be running on the 2.4GHz through 5.0GHz dual band selectable spatial streams and are classified into the smartphone, dual mode (WiFi and cellular) category. This makes it simple to speculate what these codes actually mean.
Other rumors are that these tablets are to be fitted with a 2GHz quad core processor and have a price tag of under $300. These are to compete with not only the more powerful tablet/readers on the market in price, but with processing power as well. These new tablets may come equipped with the Ice Cream Sandwich installment of the Android OS or even a new sweet food themed code named version of the OS. These rumors and “evidence” will do one thing for sure, and that is to make fans and competitors alike to be on edge while they wait for more news at the Mobile World Congress later this month.
