In an effort to bring more customers to Sony, the company has reduced the price of their Tablet S by $100 and is offering incentives for those who purchase. In addition to the price discount, Sony is offering anyone who purchases a Tablet S a free 180 day subscription to Sony’s Music Unlimited service as well as five movie downloads from their Video Unlimited Service.
If that sounds good, it gets even better. If you purchase a Tablet S before the end of January you will be able to download five free ‘Classic Playstation’ games as well from the Playstation Store app onto your Tablet S.
With the reduction of price, you can now purchase the Tablet S from Sony’s online store for $399.99 if you choose the 16 GB version or $499.99 for the 32 GB version if you need more storage.
The Sony Tablet P which was revealed as a prototype at the same time as the Tablet S was debuted back in April has still not been given any new information other than the known dual-screen technology that it will feature. Still no price point or launch date for that new device.
The Tablet S runs on Android Honeycomb (though it is supposed to be upgraded to ICS in the future) and has a dual core Nvidia Tegra2 processor and 1 GB of RAM. It has a 9.4 inch screen running 1280x800p resolution and has a unique shape that almost feels like you’re holding a rolled up newspaper when you hold the device.
In addition to the decent hardware, the slate also has a 5 MP rear-facing camera as well as a 0.3 MP front-facing camera for video calls.
