In this article we will be looking at three of the best handsets available in the near future. Regardless of which one you pick you will receive an excellent phone that really highlights the Android OS. Anyway, lets get onto the comparison! First off we will be looking at the Galaxy Nexus.
Galaxy Nexus
This is the flagship device from Samsung and Google that was announced recently at the Google Samsung event. Hardware wise it is decent, but not amazing. Galaxy Nexus sports a 1.2Ghz dual core processor and 1GB of memory. The screen on the other hand, is insane. It is 4.65″, and this includes the buttons at the bottom of the device. This makes it comparable to say, a HTC Sensation. The screen runs at 1280 pixels high by 720 pixels wide, aka. 720p and sports the AMOLED technology that makes colors seem vibrant and ‘real’. However this does have a drawback; it uses the pentile matrix system that means it is isn’t as sharp as if it was a regular LCD screen with the same resolution.
It also has up to 32GB internal storage to ensure you never run out of space for your apps and media. Finally the biggest thing this phone has for it is that is runs the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system out of the box. No wondering when you’ll get the update, it’s just there.
Droid RAZR
This is the flagship device from Motorola and has similar specs to the Galaxy Nexus. A 1.2Ghz dual core A9 processor ensures the device runs smoothly and a entire gig of RAM that allows you to run a lot of apps all at the same time. The screen is nothing we haven’t seen before; it runs at qHD resolution (940*540) on a 4.3 inch display using Super AMOLED technology, again making the screen have rich blacks and vibrant colors. However DROID RAZR also lacks the proper resolution that a regular LCD screen has.
However it doesn’t run Ice Cream Sandwich but rather runs Gingerbread. However we can expect a update within the next few months and Motorola have confirmed they will be updating the device. The design of the device is great and is only 7.1mm thin. The device is certainly a great phone but it lacks any really unique features.
HTC Rezound
This device has yet to be confirmed but hopefully tomorrow (3rd of November) HTC will announce the device officially. But judging by the recent revelation of a pre-production model we can safely assume the specifications. HTC Rezound will have the best of both of the two devices above, 4.3 inches but runs at 720p making it one of the sharpest phone screens available, or rather available some time in 2011/early 2012. The specifications are much similar to the HTC Sensation XE, sporting a 1.5GHz dual core processor although has 1GB of RAM. It will also feature the Beats branding throughout the device, to the extent of the device being bright red over the majority of the back of the device.
Personally I think it doesn’t look great but it might appeal to others. And from the Beats branding you get some included headphones that are significantly better than the typically included headphones. Likewise it will have a 8MP camera, much like the HTC Sensation (XE). However it will be running Gingerbread initially but HTC have announced they will be updating as many handsets to Ice Cream Sandwich as possible and this will definitely include this device. When we do not know but at least it’s confirmed.
Specs Comparison Galaxy Nexus Vs DROID RAZR Vs HTC Rezound :
All in all each device has it’s merits. Personally I would go with the HTC Rezound as I like HTC’s build quality and the fact its screen is arguably the best of them all and the specifications are the best of all of them. If you can’t wait for Ice Cream Sandwich then the Galaxy Nexus might be better but rest assured, all devices will get a upgrade soon. I wouldn’t pick the Droid RAZR as it doesn’t have much going for it, bar the slimness.
